What is Harmony 2022 Art Workshop?
It was a One Day workshop cum exhibition, where the workshop was conducted by 8 senior-most artists of West Bengal and 2 junior upcoming artists for 37 students of Anthelion School of Art. The program was designed to experience the similar aspects of two Art-Forms – Theatre and Painting. While theatre represents complete form of Performing Arts involving Acting, Emotions, Body Movements, Rhythm, Dance, Poetry, Music and all forms of Performances possible. While Painting captures imaginations and feelings in the canvases through colours.
Harmony 2022 was, probably the first time in India, an effort to combine the two forms.
Shri Goutam Halder the renowned Theatre Thespian, Dramatist, Actor & Director (founder of Naye Notua and Ex-Key-Member of Nandikar) presented the various aspects of Dramatics and Theatre to the Workshop Participants and Artists in 20-minute slots and then for the next 20 minutes they created their compositions. The process repeated in 20-minute cycles and compositions evolved in the same size canvas of all participants over the 6 hours of workshop.
How the Harmony 2022 Art Workshop was Implemented?
The workshop started at 10 am, with Mr. Halder talking about Lines, Space Division and Movements in Theatre. Then he spoke about clashing energies that differentiate normal movements and acts from dramatics. Then he spoke about Groups and Leading – Acts with multiple persons. Finally, he spoke of emotions, expressions, and use of objects. He spoke of Theatric Moments and how subtle focus and changes and bring the extraordinary out from the ordinary.
Each of these components were presented through simple theatre games where various participants of the workshop took part in. The moments and feelings were captured in the minds of the participating artists and were then converted to Compositions for their Canvas under the guidance of senior Artists.
Each senior artist worked on a canvas of size 30 inches by 30 inches while every student participant worked on the canvas size of 18 inches by 24 inches. The final artworks once completed shall be put up in an exhibition.
