As per National Education Policy 2020 – Education is being integrated with Art – Art-integration is a cross-curricular pedagogical approach that utilizes various aspects and forms of art and culture as the basis for learning of concepts across subjects. As a part of the thrust on experiential learning, art-integrated education will be embedded in classroom transactions not only for creating joyful classrooms but also for imbibing the Indian ethos through the integration of Indian art and culture in the teaching and learning process at every level. This art-integrated approach will strengthen the linkages between education and culture. NEP 2020 envisions art as a means to enhance learning experiences, connect students with Indian culture, and develop essential 21st-century skills.

The course in Painting at Second phase of Secondary stage as an elective subject is aimed to develop aesthetic sense of the students through the understanding of various important well-known aspects and modes of visual art expression in India’s rich cultural heritage from the period of pre-Historic times to the present time. It also encompasses practical exercises in drawing and painting to develop their mental faculties of observation, imagination, creation and physical skills required for expressions and aesthetic appreciation of art.

At Anthelion School of Art, we have designed a systematic and structured course – named “Intermediate Diploma in Fine Arts” – for school students of age 12+ to 17+ years in both Classroom & Online format, covering the syllabus of both CBSE & ICSE (including ISC) boards. It is designed not only to cover the syllabus of the respective boards but also strengthen the Fine Arts Skills & Knowledge in such a way that the students can utilize this course as preparation for Art Colleges, Design Colleges and Fashion or Animation & Film Making courses thereafter.

Theory (History of Indian Art) Objective:

The objective of including the history of Indian Art for the students is to familiarize them with the various styles and modes of art expressions from different parts of India. This would enrich their vision and enable them to appreciate and develop an aesthetic sensibility to enjoy the beauty of nature and life. The students will also have an opportunity to observe and study the evolution of its mutations and synthesis with other style and the rise of an altogether new style. The students should be made aware of art as a human experience. The teachers should be able to expose them to the wide range of artistic impressions, the media and the tools and technique used. The history of Indian art is vast; hence the students should be made well acquainted with brief glimpses of the development of Indian visual art that are required for concept formation.
